Why spot-checking a few numbers does not tell you how you are performing—the MoSM metrics dive deeper to provide a comprehensive view of performance. You could use the analogy of a physical exam to evaluate your personal health. Simply checking your temperature or your heart rate might provide you with some assurance, but does that really assess your total health? Of course not. You need to look more comprehensively at lab results, blood pressure, weight, and a host of variables to get a true assessment of health.    A supply chain organization is very similar – it is a complex system of variables that must be taken as a whole, because all of those variables impact or influence the level of performance. Across all manufacturing and services industries surveyed, sourcing from suppliers that comply with ethical ESG practices is most important. Interestingly, just over 30% of supply chain professionals feel reducing Scope 3 emissions is important, despite looming regulatory reporting requirements in California and Europe. Looking at the broad portfolio of the CAPS metrics enables a more accurate assessment of the total performance of the organization. Your organization is a system comprised of many pieces, and some of those pieces directly affect other parts of the system.   For example, you might feel confident about having a lean headcount and low staffing costs, but does that mean you are missing the opportunity to manage your supply more effectively?
